Games of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
خیبر پختونخوا
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's games run from the flat districts around Peshawar and Mardan, where tent pegging is held on post-harvest fields and at fairs, up into the mountain valleys where the northern equestrian tradition begins. Street and courtyard games are shared with the rest of the country but carry Pashto names, which are recorded per game rather than assumed. Wrestling and stone-throwing contests appear at fairs across the province. This page collects every game on this site with a documented presence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and links each to a page where the rules, equipment and regional naming are cited individually. The province's games are unevenly documented in English: the equestrian events have some coverage through fair reporting, while household and children's games have almost none. Entries in research are labelled as such, and we would rather leave a history section empty than fill it with a general claim about Pashtun tradition that no source supports.
