Equestrian Games games
گھڑ سوار کھیل
Pakistan's equestrian games belong to particular landscapes: tent pegging on the flat post-harvest fields of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, freestyle polo on stone-walled grounds in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, buzkashi on winter fields in the far north. They share horses, a rural fair calendar and a small number of families who keep the animals and the skills going, but their rules have almost nothing in common. Freestyle polo in particular is played without umpires and with a rule set that differs sharply from the international game, and the Shandur ground above 3,700 metres is the best known place to see it. This category records each game's equipment, ground, player count and season, with rules and history drawn from cited sources rather than from general knowledge. Regional naming is attributed. Entries still in research are clearly labelled, because these are the games where English-language documentation is weakest and where invention would be easiest and most damaging.
